Mountain iron celebrates Merritt Day’s

The City of Mountain Iron will have the annual Merritt Day’s celebration on August 13th & 14th, 2010. Most events will be held in the old downtown section of Mountain Iron. A spaghetti fundraiser will be held on Thursday, August 12th to help support the following year’s celebration. There will be concessions, music, a parade, street dances, pancake breakfast, and scheduled are various activities for adults and children. This year is the 5k & 7k walk or a 10k run in memory of Larry Nanti, former Director of Parks and Recreation. Come and join the fun!! Registration is required for some events. Please contact Sally Peterangelo at 735-8625 or 750-7219 if you would like to be a vendor, seller, or join the committee to help make this celebration a success.

Mountain Iron Residents:
Calendar parking is in effect from Nov 1st to April 1st.
Parking is allowed on the even side of the street on even days, odd on odd days.
Change over period is from 6pm to 11pm.

Do you have a fire hydrant in front of your home or business? Is there one close by? The City of Mountain Iron is looking for people to adopt a hydrant during the winter months. During or right after a significant snowfall, the City is asking that you maintain a clearance around the hydrant you have adopted. This would be very helpful to the City and improve the safety for the entire community.

The City of Mountain Iron will begin taking reservations for the West Two Rivers Campground on March 1, 2010.
